Introducing a member portal to your constituents just got easier!
Jvillage is pleased to announce that it is now possible to create user id and password in bulk for a group of people. With this enhancement, you now can create a user login for all of your members and email them the login information, rather than waiting for your members to register for their own account.
To get the process started, open a support ticket called "Create Users." And, make sure that you indicate the group in your Manage Groups area that is designated to receive user access. We will take care of the rest for you.
Keep in mind that:
1. The username created will be "first_name.last_nameID_NUM" So if the contact internal ID is 583, then the username would be "sally.smith583." The username will always be lower case. To be eligible to get a user name, the contact must be: living, an individual contact type (not household nor organization), not deleted/trashed, have a valid email address, have a first name, have a last name, and not already have an existing username.
2. The system will email the user using the Drupal template "Account Activation Email." This template can be found/edited in your website administration area for User Management. The email will include username, links on where to log in, and a "one-time" use link that can be used to choose a new password. It's not possible for this email to include the actual password.
3. The system only allows for a single user with a given email address (ie: you cannot have 2 Drupal users sharing an email address). Even though your database allows for email addresses to be used for multiple contacts, if Fred Flintstone and Wilma Flintstone both have the address "flinstones@yahoo.com," then only Fred OR Wilma will get a user account (one will be chosen by the system). In other words, if Wilma wants her very own user account, she will need to get her very own email address, first.
