How to Create a Blog Alias
The title of the blog is the Username of the user, and the initial URL of the blog is defaulted to be blog/userid#. In order to create a friendly alias for the blog, you must know the user id number, which can be found by going into the user profile of the blog owner and looking at the profile URL.
- Record the User ID # by logging in, going to people, and clicking on the User’s name. You will be brought to the User’s profile, and the user ID will be in the profile URL. The blog associated with that user will be blog/userid#.
- Once you have the User ID #, go to Configuration > Search and Metadata > URL Alias.
- Click on Add alias. Enter the blog/userid# in the Existing system path text field, then enter the friendly alias of the blog in the Path alias text field. Save.
- If you need to change the title of the blog , then you need to either change the Username associated with the blog, or create a unique User account with the blog title as the Username that just has the role of Site Blogger, but a unique email will need to be associated with that blog account.
