When first creating statements from your jManage database, it may take some trial and error to get things to look exactly like you want them to. It's always a good idea to see what the sample statement template will look like before making any edits:
- Pull up a contact record that has financial transactions for the period
- Click the "Actions" button and select "Print PDF Letter"
- Click Go (as of version 4.5, the system no longer requires an additional click to execute the action)
- Select the Sample Statement Template
- Click "Make PDF Letters"
If the sample statement does not contain information that you may have included in statements sent from a previous system, most of the information can be added as explained in the following pages (please start with the first link and use the "next" page function when done with each section).
Sometimes, organizations wish to select which types of financial transactions will appear on statements (e.g. only transactions for the new fiscal year, or just for the religious school, etc.). This is something that we call "Obligation Selection" that can be managed through the use of Financial Sets that must be configured before creating statement templates. Click HERE for detailed instructions on using Financial Sets.
Creating year-end tax letters follows virtually the same process as producing statements, with the main differences being in the search criteria for the contacts being selected and the tokens being used in the message template. A screen cast for producing year-end tax letters is available – click HERE to view.
