Managing Financial Types
To review, add or make changes to your Financial Types and corresponding Accounting Codes, go to your back office top menu: Administer/CiviContribute/Financial Types. You should have at least one Financial Type for each Income Account listed in your accounting program. Click to read more about Using Financial Sets in Your jManage Database.
- Financial Type NameA
- Account Number
- Tax Deductible? (Y/N)
- Add Financial Type
- Edit Financial Type(s)B
- Disable/DeleteC Financial Type()
Strict syntax must be followed when creating "adjustment-" and "prepayment-" Financial Types in order for the system to recognize contributions accordingly. Both begin with lower case letters and end with a dash (with no space before it), anything after the dash is up to you. If your organization is using Financial Sets, please be sure to review the documentation locatedHERE for proper "adjustment-" and "prepayment-" formatting.
- *EDIT WITH CAUTION:
Edits to financial types will propagate to existing contributions - (e.g. if the financial type name "Dues" is changed to "Dues 13/14", all contributions previously recorded for "Dues" will now read "Dues 13/14")
- Disabling a Financial Type will remove it from selection when recording new financial data, but will preserve the history of any data listed with that Financial Type when running historical financial reports. If a Financial Type is in use, the system will prevent you from deleting it. If it is your true intention to delete the Financial Type, batch update the affected contributions with another Financial Type, then go back to your back office top menu: Administer/CiviContribute/Financial Types to delete.
