These instructions refer to credit balances excluded from export. Any credit balances resulting from transactions occurring directly in your jManage database should be recorded using a different method. Financial Import - Transitional Data
Depending on the timing of your financial import, resulting data will most likely be represented in a different manner than your previous system. Financial imports follow a multi-step process, part of which is explained here to facilitate a further understanding of how to apply credit balances excluded from import.
- Contribution Import
Contribution data is extracted from the database table that contains information regarding transactions in your previous system. Physical payments received (contributions) as well as any credits applied ("adjustment-" contributions) are imported into your Pogstone database to show an accurate record of what each contact has paid or been credited for within the date range of the import.
- Pledge Import
Pledges are created from open balances at the time of import. The calculation of the open balance takes the sum of all charges less the sum of all payments and credits for a given financial type per contact, regardless of charge or payment date. Given that it is not possible to link contributions to pledges during the import process, payments and credits are imported separately from open balances as of date of export from your previous system. As a result, credit balances are excluded from import as importing them would create duplicate payment data.
Unallocated Credit Balances Excluded From Import
If you are recording an unallocated credit balance excluded from import, review the other articles in this section to find detailed instructions for three of the most common scenarios.
